Choosing planning software is less about a brochure feature list and more about the planning work your firm already does. You need to know whether the product supports goals-based conversations, cash-flow detail, estate modeling, or a lighter prospecting entry point, who owns the household records, and what still has to be proven in a demo.

This page is a buying checklist based on what Envestnet | MoneyGuide’s public site showed on the check date. It is not a hands-on product review, and it does not rank MoneyGuidePro against other vendors.

OJay Media Marketing sells marketing to financial advisors, so we have a commercial interest in software topics that advisory firms research. We do not sell MoneyGuidePro.

Goals-based planning versus cash-flow detail

The useful first question is which planning method your firm runs most often. MoneyGuide describes an interactive goals-based planning solution on its MoneyGuide product page, with modules such as a Client Planning Portal, holistic stress testing, tax planning, Social Security optimization, retirement distribution, risk tolerance, and the Play Zone for testing variables clients control.

Envestnet | MoneyGuide’s planning hub also lists Wealth Studios for advanced estate strategies, detailed cash-flow planning, and dynamic net worth, and Dash as a lighter entry for prospecting and early planning. Bring one household you already serve and one prospect you want to serve next. Ask the vendor to complete both workflows in the configuration they are selling you.

Which MoneyGuide configuration fits?

MoneyGuide’s public hub groups offerings into Dash, MoneyGuide, and Wealth Studios, plus a Platform option that packages more of the stack together. Treat those labels as starting points for a written module list, not as proof that your firm’s workflow is covered.

Ask which seats, portals, and add-ons appear in the proposal. The MoneyGuide page lists onboarding programs, in-person or virtual training, and customer support as available help after purchase. Ask MoneyGuidePro who handles cutover, training, and day-to-day product questions after launch, and keep the answer in email.

How to read the public package materials

MoneyGuidePro’s products page listed named planning configurations and add-ons on October 1, 2026. Treat those labels as a starting point for a written proposal, not as the final package for your firm.

Ask MoneyGuidePro to put the configuration, seat count, add-ons, and onboarding work for your firm in an email. A live demo chat is not a substitute for written materials.

What to bring to the MoneyGuidePro demo

A demo is useful when you can point to a real job. Start with these questions and refuse vague answers.

  • Which configuration and portal are in the proposal, and which modules are optional add-ons?
  • Can the vendor build both a goals-based plan and a cash-flow or estate scenario that matches how you actually advise?
  • Which CRM, custodian, and risk tools have a supported connection today, and what syncs both ways?
  • How do household records leave the system when the firm needs a full export?
  • Who trains the team, and who answers day-to-day product questions after go-live?

Those answers belong in an email you can file. MoneyGuide’s FAQ page is useful background on browsers, planning approach, and collaboration features, but it does not replace a firm-specific proposal.

How to decide

Buy MoneyGuidePro only when written materials match the planning method your firm already uses, the portal your clients will open, and the integrations your reviewer can accept. If the public pages and the proposal disagree, trust the written materials and keep asking until they match.

If improving how prospective clients find your firm is also on the agenda, we explain the OJay Media Marketing process separately.

A few common questions

Where do public package details appear?

MoneyGuidePro’s products page listed named planning configurations and add-ons on October 1, 2026. Recheck the page and ask MoneyGuidePro for the numbers that apply to your firm in writing.

Is this a hands-on review?

No. This page summarizes public vendor pages and the questions an advisory firm still has to answer. It does not report a product test by OJay Media Marketing.

Should we start with goals-based planning or cash-flow detail?

Start from the planning method your clients need. Goals-based conversations point at MoneyGuide’s goals-based configuration. Detailed cash-flow or estate modeling points at Wealth Studios on the public hub. Confirm the match in a demo with your own scenarios.

About Oliwer Jonsson

Founder, OJay Media

I built OJay Media Marketing after watching strong advisors get let down by generalist agencies that didn't understand compliance, high-net-worth prospects, or what it costs an advisor to win a new client.

I've spent 7 years in performance and direct-response marketing, working with RIA and advisory firms across the US and Canada. That work adds up to over $220 million in pipeline AUM across 22 RIA partners. Past results are not guarantees of future outcomes.

We take on at most 4 new clients a month, so every firm gets my direct attention. Our fees are tied to qualified appointments rather than retainers. Every campaign is built for the SEC Marketing Rule and FINRA Rule 2210, with copy that leads with credibility and evidence instead of urgency tactics.
